Residents in can no longer log onto Pornhub after lawmakers passed a law requiring so minors can't access the content. 
While the law was supposed to solely ban minors, Pornhub retaliated and barred all state residents claiming the state law was not the 'most effective solution for protecting children.' 
Utahns noticed the ban on Monday when they came across an invalid page reading, '403 - This state is not whitelisted.' A 403 code means a website is forbidden.
The website embargo comes days before the adult site was required to implement the verification requirements on May 3.

Utah visitors logging onto the cheeky site came across an unexpected website message that read: 'As you may know, your elected officials in Utah are requiring us to verify your age before allowing you access to our website. 
'While safety and compliance are at the forefront of our mission, giving your ID card every time you want to visit an adult platform is not the most effective solution for protecting our users, and in fact, will put children and your privacy at risk.'
The company claimed that the new law was not appropriate and Pornhub had safety measures to stop minors from accessing content, reported.
Pornhub further insisted a better safety measure would be to implement website restrictions on the devices of minor, to avoid them logging onto risky sites.
Utahns were urged by the adult site to contact state leaders to reverse the law. 
'We believe that the best and most effective solution for protecting children and adults alike is to identify users by their device and allow access to age-restricted materials and websites based on that identification. 
'Until a real solution is offered, we have made the difficult decision to completely disable access to our website in Utah.'

The new law comes months after Louisiana enacted a similar one in January - requiring users to submit state IDs in order to verify their age before accessing adult sites.
Pornhub is currently the only site requiring visitors to verify their age through the LA Wallet app, a digital wallet for Louisiana state driver's licenses.
The law, known as Act 440, allows porn sites to be sued for damages resulting from a minor's access to such content and is an unusually severe step in a series of government crackdowns in the name of child safety.

As a result of the law, Pornhub is now requiring Louisiana users to verify their age through a third-party identity verification site
An adult entertainment expert with the Free Speech Coalition argued that Utah's circumstances differ from Louisiana's because the landlocked state does not have a digital ID to verify information.
'Utah's age-verification law goes into effect on May 3, but there's no clear way to comply with it,' Mike Stabile told the news outlet.
'Utah's digital ID does not currently allow online verification, so many adult sites are just planning to block all visitors from the state.'
Meanwhile, bill sponsor Senator Todd Weiler told the news outlet that he believes Pornhub will eventually 'comply.'
'They are complying with LA's law, which is essentially the same.

So I expect they will eventually comply with Utah's as well,' he told the news outlet.
